1972 Alfa Romeo GTV 1750 (105)
This is a very desirable Series 2 1750 GTV from 1972. History shows that it has had 5 owners from new and spent most (if not all) of its life in the dry Canberra climate. The current owner has had the car since 2006.
There is a file of receipts showing the history of this car from 1974 to 2006 when the current owner bought it. It has only covered around 3,000 miles from 2006 until now, so has seen very little use. The odometer shows 64,379 miles, which is believed to be genuine. The car was restored between 1984 and 1986 and the interior was changed to beige cloth during this time. The overall condition of the car shows that it will need a refresh. The paint shows cracks, chips and blemishes throughout, although it still presents reasonably well from a distance. There is no rust on the car at all and the underside is solid as can be seen by the photos.
Mechanically the car is sound. There are no oil leaks and the car shows no smoke through the exhaust. With the limited use over the last 16 years, and especially in the last 3 years, the car could do with a service and carb tune. It starts easily and idles well but has a slight stumble on acceleration. The front brake callipers will need a service as the brakes are binding a little.
The interior has survived reasonably well, and there are two small tears on the drivers side bolster - easy to repair. There is also a small hole in the rear seat. The carpets and door cards are good, the headlining has yellowed with age, and could do with a good scrub at least. The dashboard has cracks in it. All the switches, days and gauges work as they should.
There is no doubt that this car will need some work. It is an extremely solid base to work with substantial history to prove its provenance. Major mechanicals are very good, and with very little work, it will be a reliable daily driver. The car was on ACT Club Rego which is not transferrable, so is being sold unregistered.
