1979 ALFA ROMEO GTV 2000
This is an Australian delivered 116 series GTV built in June 1979.
The body is in really good shape having had a repaint in the past. The off-white colour suits the lines of the car and the paint shows up very well. Being a Canberra car, there is no evidence of rust and the body is pin straight. There is a small paint chip above the right headlight cluster and a small scratch on the passenger door. Other than that, there is nothing else worth mentioning. The chrome bumpers and wheels have been colour coded which may not be to everyone's taste, but easily rectified. The glass is all good with no cracks or scratches. The windscreen has some minor stone chips but not in the line of sight.
Mechanically, the car is great. She starts easily and drives well, oil pressure is good and exhaust note has that typical Alfa burble. Gear change is smooth with no synchro issues and clutch and brakes are great. Electrically, all switches, lights and gauges work as they should. Steering is true and the car tracks straight. The tyres will need replacing due to age, and we have just fitted a new battery.
The interior has been ret-rimmed in grey cloth in the past. The carpets were replaced at the same time and are in really good shape. The dashboard is un-cracked and has a custom dash mat to protect it. This car was delivered with an air conditioner, although has subsequently been removed. (The parts may still be available, I will have to confirm after scratching around in the previous owners shed)
This is a very good example of a fast appreciating classic.
